  9. Your promises to us
    1. You promise that all material submitted:
      - is suitable for public disclosure and is non-confidential in nature;
      - does not breach the privacy of other people;
      - is original to the student/s and the supervisor/s (“the Entrants”); and - does not infringe the intellectual property rights (e.g. copyright) and/or moral rights of other people.
    2. You promise that the work in the paper has been done by the eligible student/s, except where otherwise acknowledged. For example: - your paper might relate to image analysis techniques and could use images owned by someone else in which case you would need to acknowledge and obtain permission from that person to use the images;
      - your paper might relate to making a device which required specialised machining, routine testing and characterisation techniques, or use of external equipment which needs to be calibrated that someone else might need to perform.
    3. You promise that all work has been undertaken within the ethical guidelines of the participating university or other tertiary institution.
    4. You promise that you will cooperate with Canon Inc, Canon Australia and CiSRA in possible publicity/promotions associated with the competition and the awarding of the prize.
    5. You promise that you, the other authors of your paper (if any) and your supervisor have read and will comply with the conditions of this competition. You, the other authors of your paper (if any) and your supervisor will perform all such acts and do all such things necessary to give effect to these conditions.

  10. Grant of permission
  11. CiSRA understands that a copyright licence in your paper may have been granted to a publishing organisation. To the extent that you, the other authors of your paper (if any) and your supervisor (‘the Entrants’) retain rights to grant permission to do so, by entering into the competition, the Entrants grant Canon Inc, Canon Australia and CiSRA a perpetual, irrevocable non-exclusive licence to use, reproduce, modify and publish the paper, any images in the paper, the paper abstract, the paper title and your name(s) for the purpose of the competition, including marketing and promotional purposes. The Entrants waive the requirement to attribute/acknowledge them as the author of the materials where it is inappropriate or impractical to do so. The entrants waive this and any other moral rights that they may have under any law of any country. For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in these terms is to be construed as transferring ownership of any intellectual property rights from one party to another.
